100 Mile House

There are some number names around this area. 100 mile house, south (30 miles surprisingly) is 70 miles house and 8 miles north is 108 mile ranch. These are all outposts along the old gold trail. We stopped at the information center at 100 Mile House. It had a nice fenced park next to a Ducks Unlimited marsh that was full of migratory birds. In particular the yellow headed blackbird got our attention. There was a large teepee that got the kids attention and over the course of the last 24 hours I think they spent a couple of hours playing in this park, feeding the geese (and the 13 goslings) and just running around.

We were lucky enough to boondock the night across the road on a airplane hanger pad of all things. It was a very small, quiet private airport for tiny planes. Not very busy. I think we saw one plane take off the whole time.

We went to the town park, and took the 1k return walk up to the local waterfall. Denny being so into falls at the moment was ecstatic to see another one so soon after the Wells Gray Waterfalls. There is a great playground in the same park, so we spent an nice lunchtime at the park. The kids fell asleep almost instantly in the car, so we took the opportunity to pick up some groceries at the local Save On supermarket. Unfortunately, everybody else needed groceries too and there was queues up the isles 10 deep. Crazy. Never seen anything like it. Anyway, kids were sleeping in the car, with Poppy minding them so we waited it out for our loaf of bread and milk.

The town of 100 Mile House have provided a free RV sanidump, which is very considerate of them. So we availed ourselves of this as we left this morning.
