We had a box delivered to us last week via Josh at Carriage, from one of thier suppliers Phase Four Industries. He brought it over and it contained a beautiful, handmade quilt for Madison. The enclosed letter said:
"This quilt is for your 3 year old and while it won't replace her grandmother's blanket it is made with love by a grandmoter of 2 boys who think the world of her."
I have to say this just made me tear up, I was soooo moved. So moved in fact it has taken a week for me to mention it in my blog. I cant even begin to describe how this made me feel. I introduced the quilt to madison, I told her somebody had made this specially for her because we had lost some of our things in our old camper. She grabbed it and after a thorough investigation of the ducks on it, climbed onto the couch and pulled it over her. Then quickly defended it as Denny tried to pull it off. "It's my quilt", she said.
We went to walmart the night it arrived to get some milk. She insisted it came in the car with us, then as we pulled out the stroller and put her in it, she insisted the quilt came as well. So far the quilt has been everywhere with us, been on her every night and is used all through the day to lie the couch or carpet to watch tv. She LOVES it.
It is a bigger than the one she lost, which is great as she has grown so much in the last year. Denny has become more possesive of his own quilt that grandma made him since madi's new quilt too - so they are both quilted and happy each night to snuggle into something familiar.
So, thank you the Swarts family for thinking of us and sending us this special gift. It is greatly appreciated, and as usual we are blown away by the kindness and generosity of the american people. Thank YOU.
