Yesterday we were walking between 6ft snow walls up at Logans Pass and today we were playing in the water at City Beach in Whitefish, just 10miles up the road from Kalispell.
Gotta love summer in Montana! We went to the parade Main St, Kalispell this morning and the kids waved and waved to all the siren blaring fire trucks, miniture horses, big horses and the truck loads of kids going past. We got a good spot at the end of the parade, it wasn't too crowded so it was a great experience. No marching bands which we thought a bit surprizing.
There was a thunderstorm in the afternoon, so we waited for that to pass before heading back up the road 10 miles to Whitefish. I had read that the fireworks over whitefish lake for 4th of July are really pretty, and they were right. Lovely locale. The mountains in the background, tree'ed shoreline - spectacular sunset as we waited for it to get dark. Finally around 10.00pm the fireworks were launched from a pontoon about 500 ft out from the shore and with the dusk pink sky in the background it looked fabulous.
Then the entire drive home we were treated to an ongoing fireworks show as in every direction there were fireworks. At one stage looking through the front windscreen there must have been 5 or 6 different fireworks going off at once. It made a great trip back to the camper (and then the fireworks in the campground continued for another hour at least!)
